Sporting fans had a ball at Experience Barnsley for Reds Day

Visitors to Barnsley Museums had a ball at their Reds Day on Tuesday, 8 July.

Part of their action-packed summer holiday programme it was a free day of family fun dedicated to Barnsley Football Club. There was everything from games and crafts to flag making and kit designing as well as a visit from some very special guests.

Reds in the Community came along and were outside the Museum, based in the iconic Town Hall, hosting some great games and supporting people with their footballing skills.

Toby Tyke joined in the fun and met with hundreds of young supporters, even trying out some of the activities while he was there.

Barnsley’s latest signing Mael de Gevigney and Academy player Vimal Yoganathan also came along for the day to chat with Barnsley fans following their brilliant start to the season.

The event was a huge success with hundreds visiting the Museum during the day. The fun doesn’t stop there and there will be lots more free activities happening at Barnsley Museums throughout the school holidays.

Cllr Robert Frost, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “We are extremely proud of Barnsley Football Club and there is an area dedicated to its history in the Museum with fascinating objects, films, and artifacts. Reds Day was a huge success that not only celebrated our town's team but also offered a great free day out and opportunities for young people to get creative and learn new skills.”
