Lundwood

The first shop in Lundwood appears to have opened as a chemist branch at 351 Pontefract Road in the 1930s, which was extended in 1963.

The first grocery branch opened in 1960 as a self-service branch at 341 Pontefract Road in the same row of shops, replacing a shop and post office. Unusually for the BBCS neither of the properties seem to have been built by the society. The chemist store is not mentioned in directories after the transfer to Co-operative Retail Services in 1971 and the grocery branch appears to have closed between 1991 and 1993.
